The People's Republic of McDonalds

On my way to school each day I pass an overwhelming amount of fast food establishments: McDonalds, Chick-Fil-A, Burger King, Zaxby's, Arby's and the list goes on. What is mind boggeling to me as that the drive thru lanes are usually backed up. Are Americans really that lazy? I mean we are already eating billions of Big Macs each year, is it too hard to park our cars, walk inside and order? I guess so. Families now have the option of ordering family size meals to feed everyone instead of cooking. So we can eat with our families around the dinner table, but we have to be shoving grease and unnessesary calories in our faces to do it. It is truly pathetic. I wonder what the average american's health status would be like if we just cut fast food out of our diets completely and settled for home cooked meals. Are we in that much of a hurry that making a sandwich and bringing it to work is too much time? Are we so concerned about being there on time that we want to clog our bodies with cholesterol? And is the food really that good that it can be sacrificed? It kills me...and chances are it is killng many Americans each year who substitute fast food meals for a healthy, harty meal. Unfortunately, the fast food industry is booming, new establishments are popping up everywhere, and the biggest shock to me, no matter how many of them they build, they will be crowded!

The Sentinel: Meteoker all around

Recently I went to see the heavily advertised movie, "The Sentinel" with my friend Jason who is a Keifer Sutherland fanatic. The movie stars Sutherland as well as Michael Douglas, Kim Besinger and Eva Langoria. The film's plot sounds good on paper. In 141 years there has never been a traitor in the Secret Service until now. There is a plot to assasinate the president and it roots from inside the Secret Service. The suspect is Douglas' character, who is innocent but is being framed. The twist is that he is having an affair with the First Lady. Agent, whatever his name is, I dont remember because it was not worth committing to memory, is hired to take on Douglas. Turns our Sutherland and Douglas are old friends and Douglas is married to Sutherlands ex-wife, whoa watch out! Anyway, the film was ok and just ok. The plot, in reality was ok, the acting was ok and the twists and turns were ok, I guess you could say it was meteoker all around. The flick had an element of predictability that I was hoping would stop. I was expecting a big twist at the end, but it never came. Overall, I wasted $8.50 on a movie that I should have waited to rent on DVD, oh well.

Baseball in the rain

When it rains, it pours they so and in baseball that could not be more true. About two weeks ago the Atlanta Braves played the San Fransisco Giants in San Fran. The game was delayed because of rain for almost two hours. The San Fran ground crew who was not prepared for the bad weather cleared the feild as safe to play on and the game began. Chipper Jones, the all-star thrid baseman, and the Braves' go to guy went to catch a simple ground ball. While coming up to throw the ball, Jones slippd on the wet grass and twisted his knee. The viewers at home held their breath as Jeff Porter, the Braves' trainer and Coach Bobby Cox ran out to field as Jones winced in pain on the ground holding his knee. Since then he has been on the disabled list and is scheduled to return on Tuesday against the Brewers. I told you that story to tell you this one. Yesturday the Braves were scheduled to play a game against the Washington Nationals in Washington. The game was on a two and half hour rain delay and when they removed the tarp it was obvious that this field was not safe for playing. Later in the game as the rain poured down, Braves reliever Mike Remlinger threw a pitch, the ball slipped because it was wet, it went all the way to the fence and the runner on thrid scored causing the Braves to lose in the ninth inning 4 to 3. I have three points to make about this:
1) Rain delays should only go as long at 90 minutes. After that, cancel the game and reschedule.
2) Wet fields cause many problems. In the case of Jones, the potential for injuries is higher and the injuries can be substantial putting essential players on the Disabled List for days even months.
3) It is unfair to both teams because a wet ball, wet cleats and muddy base paths can cause errors that would not have happened otherwise.

I-pods, the new pastime

What is the deal with these things? Are they magical? Do they attract beautiful members of the opposite sex? Do they make you lose weight? They must be doing something because like DVD players, everybody owns one. The I-pod, a portable device that allows owners to download their own music and listen to it where ever, have become an epidemic. At school I see people walking the campus with these gadgets. Who said college was for socializing? Now that you have your nifty little i-pod, you don't need friends. What really bothers me is because of their portability students get away with listening to their i-pods in the middle of class. Yup, that's right, while the professor is lecturing on American culture in the age of blacklisting, students can not hear a word of it because they must hear their music right away. I don't see a problem with these devices if used properly, like while excersizing, cleaning, resting or traveling on a plane, but during class, that is just plain rude. Furthermore, they are desocializing America. Instead of making friendly conversation with peers, Americans are listening to their music. Now call me old fashioned, my friends do, but I am a radio person, much like my dad. The static gives me a sense of nostalgia, and the radio personalities entertain me. I own SOME cds, but I will never own an i-pod. I love music just as much as the next guy, but I can certainly do without it while I am in class.

What happened to family values?

The other day I was at the movie theatre and I saw something that disturbed me. An old friend of mine who is in college at the University of Georgia, has a younger sister, who is know 15 years old. We will call this 15 year old, Angela. What I saw outside the movie theatre was Angela and 2 boys, who appeared to highschool age but probably a little older than her. They were all dressed in dark, dumpy clothes and she was wearing thick black eyeliner, bright eyeshadow and her hair was dyed a reddish pink. Now, I don't say this to pass judgement on one's appearance, especially when their age is vulnerable to the new phase of the week and self esteem is low. However, it is not that which amazed me. Angela pulled out å cigarette from her back pocket and lit up along with the two boys. When I approached her to say hello, she began to giggle to out of control and she said "Kayla, I am so wasted, we just finished off a bottle of vodka in the car." I did not care to know where a 15 year old got a bottle of vodka and whether the driver drank it while driving over to the theatre, but I was appauled. I though back to the days of highschool when Angela's sister and I used to hang out. Her mother was a single mom and she never met her dad. Her mom h had been remarried once but divorced again after the stepfather abused her physically. She spent a lot of time home alone and had plenty of freedom regardless of how hard her mom tried. As if seeing her younger sister making huge mistakes like smoking and drinking was not enough, it turns out one of the boys was her boyfriend who is actually 18 years old. C'mon. It begged the question to me...if Angela was sitting around the dinner table each night with her family would she have turned out this way? Nobody is perfect regardless of their upbringing, but as someone who was raised in a good family with married parents I can say I benefited from family dinners. Perhaps if Angela had a father figure, she would not be allowed to dress so smutty and date someone that age... I know my dad would not have gone for it at 15 years old. Perhaps if she was doing things like playing a sport or participating in after school activities she would be too busy to get wrapped up in the wrong crowd. And perhaps if she was raised not to smoke or drink, she would not smoke or drink! The point is: family values are deteriorating. Parents don't know where their kids are, what they are doing and who they are doing it with. Family dinner is rare these days because of divorce rates, second jobs and busy schedules. However, I wonder, that if we just stepped back and spent a little more time with our family and a little less time watching tv we would all be better off.

Thank You for Smoking

There is only one word for Fox Searchlight's newest endeavor, "Thank You for Smoking" and this "refreshing." Washington's most hated lobbyist, Nick Naylor, works for the American Tobacco Studies Agency and represents the big conglomerated tobacco companies. Naylor, describes his job quite simply, he talks for a living, and talks well. However, Naylor also claims to be a man of the people, that is why he flies in coach on business trips. "Thank You for Smoking" features an all-star cooky cast of characters, some who have small, yet essential parts in the film. William H. Macy stars as the Vermont Senator, an anti-smoking supporter and Naylor's arch nemesis. Katie Holmes, stars as the sleazy, young Washington Probe reporter who seduces Naylor to tell her all of his secrets. Other roles include Naylor's son, Naylor's boss, a true loud mouth, and my personal supporting characters, Naylor's two best friends, who are representatives of the alcohol industry and firearms industry. The photo above is a scene from the movie with Naylor and these characters. The movie takes many twists that feature Naylor showing off his ability to talk, even the biggest skeptics into believing he is right.
What I liked the most about this movie is that is a realistic look into the real world of lobbying for a product that kills so many people. The characters are reaslistic and so is the plot and that is why the film is refreshing. Overall, I would give this move an A-. My recommendation for those who are thinking about seeing it: Beware, it is a tough-skin kinda flick with lots of adult humor and sex. But the flick is also light-hearted in many ways and refreshingly funny.

My illegal immigration laws

Ok, so I have been listening to a lot of talk radio lately and I experienced something that is odd for me, and that is that 80% of America agrees with me on illegal immigration. We want to do something about it. We want the border shut down, we want fines for employers we want the army, a wall and tougher laws. Unfortunately, there are still some far left liberals who just will not come around. However, I really dont care. I feel stronly on this issue! Yesturday on my work break I was sitting outside having a conversation with some folks and there was this Russian girl who was so angry about illegal immigration...Her feeling is that why should she bust her butt to work hard in this country to do things the right way, when the others are getting a free ride! She makes a great point. Below I have outlined my laws on illegal information:

1. No welfare, foodstamps or government giveaways
2. No special programs in our schools to cater to the spanish community
3. If you wish to live here you must speak the native language
4. No protesting or demonstrating in OUR country
5. No social services, especially healthcare
6. Just because you marry a citezen does not give you the right to stay
7. Just because you have a child in this country, does not give you the right to stay.
8. You may not wave your flag in our country
9. You may not have a job here
10. Employers who hire illegals will be fined a significant amount and face jail time
11. For those caught here, no amnesty! You must leave!

My friend, the Editor and Chief

He is always there for comic relief and a strong drink. He is a man of many talents and interests and he is the closest thing on this planet to the REAL Jack Bauer. For those of you who do not know who Agent Bauer is, I am not going to dignify that because obviously you live under a rock. The man of who I speak goes by the name, Jason Nimer. Today is a good day for all of us, because after this week, he is the go to guy, our boss! I am so happy that he was elected and not some crod who thinks he is at UGA, but is actually at KSU. However, Jason did the dumbest thing of his career today after his position was confirmed. He went into the production room to change out of his suit and when he went to open the door, the lock broke and Jason was locked in the production room by himself at work. I have never seen more people in our office than I did today. It was truley a spectacle for all to see. Then the useless KSU police showed up and were unable to do anything, then the wonderful lock smith showed up and got the door unlocked. Normally I would not blog something like this that is personal but it was too funny for me not to get it out there.

Baseball is a game filled with rivalries. Below is a short list of the some of the greatest rivalries in baseball.

Now the rivalry between Boston and New York goes way back to the days of Babe Ruth and "The Curse of the Bambino". The hatred between the two teams runs deep, perhaps because each team holds such a large and loyal fan base. One could even call them "die hards."
The rivalry among San Fran and L.A is more an issue of proximity. California also has hatred between the American League Angels and the National League Dodgers, but because they are in different leagues, the rivalry is not as prevalant.
St. Louis, a place I have been fortunate enough to visit is home of the best baseball fans in the country, right alongside of those crazed Cubs fans, just north over the state line. These fans are not as rude as those of the Red Sox or the Yankees, but have just as much passion. These two teams nestled away in the midwest have been going at it for years.
So why do I hate the New York Mets? It is the same reason the fans in Boston hate the Yankees, rivalry. It is not an issue of proximity, but more so in competition. The Beauty of owning a dog or two

Recently I have been extrememly stressed out and overwhelmed. After driving 25 minutes to work and school 6 days a week, working for five hours, going to class for three and then working again for two more hours, all I want to do is come home and watch the baseball game. When I get home, luckily for me, I have two dogs anxiously awaiting my arrival. As soon as I open the door they both come at me. My beagle, Oscar jumps up on me and wags his tail with excitement. My mutt, an older dog, Mattie awaits a rub on her head. Now, I point this out to highlight why owning dogs is so great. Besides health benefits, dogs have a calming factor and are always glad to see their owners. It is my theory that if dogs could talk, when we are gone they would talk about how they miss us and can't wait until we get home. At least that is what their reactions seems like when we do come home. Dogs are great companions and will love you with loyalty forever. For anybody out there who feels like they are missing something in their lives, perhaps you are single and feel lonesome sometimes. Perhaps you live alone and want some company and protection, either way I reccammend dog ownership to the old and the young, the singles and the couples, the boys and the girls.

Don't rain on my parade

Ok so here is the truth about Barry Bonds...he is guilty as sin. However the recent "press coverage overload" of Bonds has caused somthing I have dubbed "the victim perpetrator effect." What I mean by this is that because Bonds is getting so much press, he appears extremely guilty, which he is, however, the coverage is making it out like he is the only one who has done steroids. There are probably hundreds of baseball players out there who have done it and perhaps still may be doing it. Now, one of the reasons this is a big deal with Bonds is because he is about to break Hank Aaron's homerun record, a record that should have an * next to it if he does break it. However all of this mumbo jumbo brings me back to a week ago when I was at the home opener for the Atlanta Braves with 13 of my closest friends. We had a great time tailgating. We got to the ball park abot 2 hours before the game and when we arrived, we pulled down the tail gate on Rick's flatbed, whipped out the cooler and the grill and ate and drank till our hearts' content. Then we wondered into the game for first pitch and watched the Braves win against the Phillies 5 to 3. It was an amazing experience.[The picture above was taken at that game, at our tailgating party.] However now that baseball has become a "who did it and who did not do it" with all of the steriods the game is staring to lose its flare with me. I remember as a kid my dad watched all sports, but football had too many rules and I could not keep with basketball, but I wanted to to hang with my dad always...but when the baseball games came on, I could follow those. Then as I got older I began to play softball. The passion for the hobby lasted all the way through highschool. Now today, nothing thrills me more than a game of baseball. So I beg of you Bonds, and any of you other juicers out there, its fine with me if you ruin the game for yourselves, but don't ruin the game for me.

9th bar and 5th day

Things have truley gotten extemely interesting. Yesturday Nimer and I hit 3 bars. We started at Barnacles for lunch and beer, then went to Sidelines and then last but not least went to Los Reyes. Then today after getting some work done finally we went to Winstons. The servers were really nice, actually, the chubby one was a little too nice, she kept coming by our table and making small talk conversation with us, but then we went to the bar where we experiened the best ever. We went to this great local bar called Lassiter's Tavern. After going to drink A beer we decide to drink more and four beers later we decide it is time to leave, not after experiencing the best bar ever. This bar inspired us to create a new category in our "2006 Beer Awards" article--Best Local Color, which means the bar you go to, to experience the local crowd at best. Of course being in Kennesaw Ga means that the local color comes from rednecks who are piling in for the weekly poker night, a true experience. Well, let me tell you... this was truley an amazing experience, one filled with stories and anecdotes, so much that a feature writer like myself could not get enough of it. Best of all my partner in crime, Jason Nimer, as mentioned before, enjoyed it as well which was unexpected because he is a metal music kinda guy, not a conosuier of country...so be it!

12 Bars, 7 Nights

While in New York City, in a drunken stupor in a bar on 9th and 43rd during the St. Patrick's Day weekend, my friend and fellow editor Jason Nimer suggested an idea that he pondered up on last year's trip to Kansas City. "ya know what we should do?" he said. Knowing Jason well I anxiously replied, "What?" His answer involved doing an article that required us to go around town and literally find the coldest beer in town by measuring it with a therometer. "Brilliant!" I replied. The idea spawned from then. Jason and I began the experiment 4 days ago. Since then the idea has revolved into nothing short of genious. Not only will the temperature of pint glasses of Budweiser be measured and printed but other awards will be given out. They include, best food, best service, best place to watch a ball game and most accomodating to smokers. The article will also include a text box of what Jason and I have dubbed "bar terminology" and includes termns such as "man up" the verb meaning to chug and "want not, waste not" meaning finish your damn beer. There were also be two short feature articles: one that highlights the benefits of beer; the second will spotlight the ninth wonder of the world, the shower beer (if you dont know what this is, or have experienced it, you must wait til the article comes to learn more) The one page spread will also feature great pictures taken during our journey including a thumbs up around the winning beer. Now, I dont want to give away any surprises, but I will work to get some photos of our journey in the blog. I must say, you may think this is all fun and games, but you try 12 bars in 7 days and then we will talk! Bill would be appauled! Sorry Bill, so sorry.

Finally Bill takes on steroids

I have been eternally waiting for Bill to take a side on the whole steroids issue and on Thursday on the Radio Factor I finally got my wish. What was funny to me is that Bill sounded like he had been bottling this up for awhile. To put it simply, he was outrages. It made me wonder, why didnt he address this sooner? I mean he took on Duke Lacrosse, illegal immigration and secularists, so why not steroids. Just as a side, my blood boils every time I see Bonds on tv. He is getting so much publicity for doing something wrong and it makes me sick to my stomach (I mean that). Plus with all the spotlight on him, fans are forgetting the possibility and likliness that other players are on the juice as well. Needless to say, Bill went after his prey calling the sitation "atrocious". This is great coming from an old-time because their generation looks at baseball they way my generation looks at i-pods. It matters to them and nothing should get in the way of the national past time. I want Bill to take this on more in the coming weeks. I will keep posting updated information on the matter.

Is Mexico a hypocrit?

So as it turns out Bill brakes an interesting story...the immigration laws in Mexica are tough, tougher than those in the US. While they are insult us for being too tough on illegal immigrants and now we find this out. Illegal immigrants are not allowed to demonstrate in Mexico, they are allowed to here and have been a lot recently. Illegal immigrants are considered federal offenders who if caught are sent to jail, no questions asked. And here is the kicker...even if an a person in Mexico is not illegal but has some sort of visa, he or she can be kicked out of the country no matter what. So why are they so tough? Well naturally they are trying to prevent their southern border from being taken advantage of. Gautemala is just south of Mexico. Furthermore, they complain becuase the U.S wants to put our military on the border, while Mexico has their military on both borders. So they can put their military on their borders, but we can put our military on ours. This makes Mexico hypocritical and of course, Bill said it first.

Duke University Update-Top Story 4/10

Well, well, well...just as I suspected none of the DNA gathered from the 46 lacrosse team members matches anything on the victim, so did she make it up. Bill's top story guest, Wendy Murphy, a former sex crimes defender thinks that the trial should go on. She disagrees with Andrew Napalitono, who said that the trial should not happen because of the recent updates. Murphy points out that two of the boys' DNA matches sexual DNA founds on some towels in the bathroom and that there is still vaginal bruises to be considered. However, Bill brings about an even better point--this case will be hard to prove because guilt has to be proved beyond a reasonable doubt. The bruises were there before the night of the alleged rape, DNA in someone's bathroom is going to be there no matter what, it is a bathroom and the newest developement: the dancer was not paid and she was booted. So now that the issue of money comes into play, that certainly hurts her case. I have thought from the very beginning that this woman was making this whole thing up. Now, I could be wrong, but it is starting to look like I have a point. Bill does not state either way, but is clear on the fact that there is a doubt here. Murphy went on and on and would not shut up forcing Bill to do it for her. I will keep updating this Duke University situation, but I am beginning to think I was right, however, I will be the first to admit if I am wrong.

Talking Points 4/11-Dr. Strangelove

The Talking Points Memo dealt with Iran and the military. Bill discussed a recent Pentagon report that plays out a military situation in Iran and this report is making the media very paranoid. Bill claims that this is all phony and is an attempt to degrade the Bush administration. Bill compares the situation to the movie "Dr. Strangelove." Bill makes the point that the Bush administration is putting together tactics for military in Iran because they do pose a threat to the United States. Iran has become a threat because today they announced that they successfully enriched uranium, a prime component in producing nuclear bombs. Now, Bill makes a point that I like, because it makes it very clear that the Bush administration, which he tends to support, has indeed made some tactical errors in Iraq, but these errors are being used against him. One last point that Bill makes...Do not expect the U.N to help us out on this one. I like that Bill is honest about the mistakes made, but clears up the fact that Bush IS INDEED planning military tactics in Iran if need be.

Home Opener

I know that I ususally write about Bill, however tomorrow is a very important day. It is the home opener for the Atlanta Braves. We will be playing the Philidelphia Phillies. Jason, Rick, John and myself will be leaving early for an official tailgate party. The rest of the crew will be there later. I really wish that my edior in cheif did not bitch at me today about it. She said that we can not go if the issue is not done and then her stupid a** left early when she could have been doing final edits. All she does is b*tch but then she does not do her part. Anyway, I am not letting anybody ruin my good time. She pretends to take it seriously but she is just worried about Alex, who is being a real jerk. Ahh, I am so excited for tomorrow's game. I will post some picutes of the tailgate party and game when I get them back. Also I think I am gonna do a story on the biggest fans at the game. I want to interview that Francouer Franks and Andrew's Brew Crew. I will get back with Bill after the home opener. GO BRAVES!!

Bill out, Andrew in

Now, normally when Bill gets the day off from either the O'Reilly Factor or the Radio Factor, I take the day off too. However, I was more than pleased to tune into the Radio Factor on Thursday April, 6 to hear my favorite guest take over the show. I am talking about no other than Judge Andrew P. Napolitano, Fox News senior judicial analyst and author of the new groundbreaking book, "Constitutional Chaos." The reason I like Judge N. so much is because he used to serve on the New Jersey Supreme Court and he shines light on the law end of issues including information about lawyers, laws, and how the issue related to the constitition. On the Roadio Factor he discussed in detail the newest House Bill on dealing with illegal immigrants. The bill states that all 11 million of them should be treated as felons. Well the Judge and I agree on one thing, this seems like a great idea in theory, however the Judge puts his own experience on this one. He points out that if we did that than they would have to be tried by the Supreme Court (because it is indeed a felony) which would flood the court system. I agree with the judge on that, however it sure does sound good on paper. Too bad it would never work.

Can Bill take the hit

Bill's newest quest: get all the folks in Atlanta to boycott our local newspaper the Atlanta Journal Constitution. Now, he has good reasons for this. 1) The liberal stance the newspaper taken on Cashman on those like who him are see punishment for child sex offenders as part of the problem, not a solution. Meaning, they are very leniant on offenders, get them off with short or no jail time and ask that they be submitted to recovery programs. 2) The overwhelming support of amnesty for the illegal immigrants who are currently here now versus a fine or some type punishment. Bill has even taken shots at Cynthia Tucker, the editor of the editorial section of the newspaper, an obvious far-leftist with an agenda of her own. However Bill, I must say, your wish for all of to boycott the only local paper that we have is a bit much. However, for any of you who are looking for an alternative to the far-left AJC, try a copy of the Marietta Daily Journal, it is slightly more local, however it has a decent circulation and tends to have a more conservative, or atleast a more unbiased appeael. Also there are always the very local papers like the Cherokee Tribune and the Roswell Revue and News, however you will not find a world report in these types of papers like in the AJC or the MDJ. Good luck with this one Bill.

Baseball season is here

The 2006 Major League Baseball season has begun, so my Bill encounters are beginning to lessen, for I have baseball to watch and teams to root for. Those teams included are the Atlanta Braves, St. Louis Cardinals and Boston Red Sox. However, this brings me to a quesion, and I only ask this because I am lookin out for Bill O'Reilly...But I wonder why Bill has not taken on the Barry Bonds/steroid situation, I think that viewers would love to see him tackle this controversial issue. Could you imagine Bill attacking Bonds and his newest publicity stunt, a reality show aired by ESPN called "Bonds on Bonds", oh the fun he could have. And imagine the guests that he could bring in, MLB representative and a couple reporters who are pissed off because all Bonds has to say when asked about the investigation is "no comment". It would be like I always say, "bad situation, great television." So let us rally (no basball pun intended) Bill to take on the controversial issue of steriods in MLB, get his stance, the opinions of others and some good ole' fashion No spin with the one and only Bill O'Reilly.

I have the solution

I have been watching tons of O'Reilly, and listening to O'Reilly and reading O'Reilly. But even with all that, I have, on my own, come up with a solution to illegal immigration as far as the ones who are already here, and NO, it is not amnesty. If these people want to be here so damn bad, and dont want to go about it properly, all of them who are caught should be given this choice: join the U.S military and serve at least 2 years or go the hell on home!!! If you love this country so much, fight for it!
I will keep you updated on my theory that opposes amnesty a.k.a. a free ride!

Juan Rodriguiz

Bill is off tonite, therefor so is my interest in the show, however there is a rain delay on the Braves vs. Dodgers game in L.A. so I was able to catch the Factor on its 11 p.m. re-run time. Tonite Juan Rodriguiz made for an interesting guest. This Rodriguiz guy is the one who has been organizing all of these pro-immigration rallies. They have been everywhere, L.A, Phoenix, Dallas and more. His next rally, to be held on May 1 is an attempt to shut down everything for a day. People will not go work and children will not go to school, that is some kind of a message. What really pisses me off is that he says that the right-wing republicans are racist, insensitive and straight up dont like immigrants. Now this my friend is just not true. We have nothing against these people, we are asking that they are legal. Is pulling kids out of school really helping his case anyway?

Senator McCain, unpatriotic

As mentioned in the previous blog, there are 3 categories: patriotic, unpatriotic and just plain dumb. While Sheene, Cindy Shehan and Richard Dreyfuss are considered dumb in this study, McCain is called unpatriotic by Bill, and I must say I agree, if the alllegations made are indeed true. The claim is that McCain,is rooting for the U.S to lose the war in Iraq because everytime there is bad news, he seems happy about it. If that is true, than that is unpatriotic. Now Sheehan, calling terrorists, "freedome fighters", in my opinion is unpatriotic not dumb. However freedom fighter can be defined differently depending on context.

Charlie Sheene in the dumb category

On the Radio Factor Bill addressed celebrities' opinions and whether or not they were patriotic. He has divided he opinions into categories (dissent or unpatriotic, dumb and patriotic.) He calls Charlie Sheene dumb. Why? Well Sheene said something really dumb. He referred to the men who hijacked the planes on 9/11, "amateurs". Excuse me Mr. Sheene, these men were not amatuers. They were highly skilled by means of training, just to do this sort of thing. It is a dumb comment, but Bill points out it is not unpatriotic...there is a difference.

Bill and Obesity?

So here is a topic that I do not hear Bill address too often, or ever at all. However last night on the Factor, Bill had guest Meme Roth on. Now I am not sure what one can actually call her, as far as titles go, but I guess the closest thing would be anti-obesity activist? She was an extremest though. But she made some good points...fat parents generally produce fat children. She also pointes out that junk food should not be used as a reward. However Bill says that no child will stick around with rice cakes as a reward, and he is right. But, Bill did make an unfair statement. He said that her child is going to run away. Now now Bill, be nice.

Duke University in over its head :(

The lacrosse team at the prestigous Duke University is in some big trouble. A stripper hired for a party, attended by 46 team members, claims she was raped by 3 students in bathroom. Bill had the Durham County District Attorny, Micheal Nifong was on the Factor. According to Nifong, nobody is being cooperative in the ivestigation and has no doubt in his mind that this stripper was indeed raped. Bill seems nuetral at this point, but as the case unfolds I believe that his opinion will become more prevelant. The 911 call made by the stripper is a little fishy, and includes claims of racial comments made. DNA of all the present members at the party has been gathered. As the investigation unfolds I will follow it on this blog and perhaps write an editorial for my newspaper.

Juan Williams on illegal immigration

Someone I dislike more than Dick Morris is democrat, Juan Williams, a relaxed leftist who could truly care less about illegal immigrants coming to this country. Bill and Williams discussed the recent uprise of mexican students in Las Angeles who are pro-illegal immigration. Williams made an insane claim that these kids just want to feel useful and are being used to give off a message, not true. They do have a stance and they do indeed understand what they are fighting for, even if what they are fighting for (illegals) is wrong in my opinion. Bill tells Williams the truth of the situation...the politicians and media have no (real) desire to fix the problem, but Bill and I do! There are over 12 million illegals in this country and something must be done. I am glad Bill is on my side, or is it the other way around. Bill points out another sad truth...there is a back end solution (what we do after the fact) but no front end plan (what we do to be proactive). I agree! This has become the biggest U.S hot button issue and yet Congress is being too easy on it and too slow on making a darn decision!

Dick Morris on Illegal Immigration

I have never liked Dick Morris, author of "Condi vs. Hillary". My father sums his up as "whoever is writing the paycheck is who he is working for," in simpler words, he is floppy on all major issues, including illegal immigration. But he makes an interesting point, democrats are easy on illegal immigrants because they want their votes in the future. The truth is that the democratic vote depends on the minority vote. Dick got a little excited and Bill asked him to calm down and take a breath. Bill talks about the bill, which would criminilize those who help illegals. Not those who give them a glass of water, but smuggle them, Bill points out, which is a good point because that has been a misperception among people, thanks for the clarification Bill. Morris points out that Republicans should not ignore the Hispanic vote and that a wall would do the job. Bill jumps in and explains that a wall is no good without people behind it. I agree, without the military protecting it, it is useless. The main point, Mexican elections are important to the U.S and politics dealing illegals are up in the air because the politicians just want to get re-elected!

The Media and Illegal Immigration

On the Talking Points Memo on The Factor (3/29) Bill attacked the print media for not being solid on illegal immigration. He listed several newspapers and where they stand. He took a shot at my local paper, The Atlanta Journal Constition, saying that at no surprise to him, they were the most liberal, advocating for Amnesty for illegal immigrants. Other newspapers included: Washington Post, St. Louis, Houston Chronicle, Boston Globe, LA Times and NY Times. I agree with Bill, that Cynthia Tucker, the editor of the Editorials in the AJC is an extreme left-winger who leads a radical staff of confused writers. He sums it up saying that the print media does not support the tough House Bill (and in my opinion they should) I agree with Bill, and intend to write an editorial this week in my paper that is conservative take on the illegal immigration issue...look for it at ksusentinel.com after 4/5.

Christians vs. Secularists

In California, the liberal city of San Fran, to be exact broke out in protest. A christian group preached about morality in this country and to no surprise to me, a secular, liberal group backlashed, calling them facists! Bill had the leader of each group on The Factor. The Secular group leader claims that they are being denied civil rights by the Christian group. However the debate took a turn when the leader called them facists. Bill stepped in saying that the "personal attacks" were not necessary. I agree, the Christian group organized the rally,which was legal, and there was a counter rally, also legal, however Bill was hard on the Secular group leader. Although I agree with him that the personal attacks are needless, he did spin it a little bit by being so hard on her. However, I believe that if he had more time he would have been hard on the Christian leader as well. The only tough question he offered him was "Do you want a theocracy?" Of course the answer was "no". Now I am not a Christian, but I have to take the side of their group because the secularists are far leftists who have lost their minds! They believe morality is based on doing whatever, and that just in not true.

Bad crash, great footage!

Bill covered the latest Nascar disaster. A driver becomes disabled, hits the outer wall and spins across the track. Just as he makes it to almost the other end of the track into safety, another car, hits him going 200 mph! Not to be insensitive, but the footage was great! Just watching it makes you sick. What is misleading about the footage is the driver who got hit at 200mph, was the not one killed, it was the driver who hit him who was killed! Bill had the brother of the victim on the show. His brother is a driver himself and wont quit, what a fool!

Bill battles about illegal immigration

On the top story segment of The Factor, a segway of the talking points memo, that has already been discussed, Bill battles with the leader of a pro illegal immirgrant organization. The main point I would like to touch on in this piece deals with Bill's solutions to illegal immigration and how the pro guy feels about it. The main one is the National Guard on the border. The guest stupidly claims that border control, or patrol (choose your weapon) is not for the military. Bill does not miss a beat with this one...he immediately says that the Constitition clearly states that the military's duty, or one of their duties, is to "protect the borders". All I can say to his guest is "duh" you idiot. Do your research! His claim, as to why the military does not belong at the border is because they should be concentrating on the war in Iraq. Well, I have news for this guy...they are fighting, a damn good fight in Iraq and I will challenge anyone who disagrees, but there are other military outlets out there, including the National Guard. I mean their name is National Guard for pete's sake. The answer is in the question. The guard, guard what? The border or our nation. When are people going to get the picture?

Bill on illegal immigration

On Bill's talking points memo, he gives his solution for illegal immigration. But first off, I would like to point out that once again, Bill calls out Congress, for being far too light thus far and being repetative, good call Bill. He gives about 7-8 solutions for the illegal immigration problem that are an alternative to building an expensive wall around the border. Once again he brings up the mobilization of the National Guard to the border to protect it. He suggests that illegals that are already here, register, and pay a $3000 fine to be taken out of paychecks. He also brings up the issue of employers who hire illegals, and says that they should face high penalties. The main thing, no catch and release, it should be more like catch and deport. I completely agree with Bill on this one. It is time for someone to crack down on illegals. Not because they are taking our jobs, but because, put simply, they are here illegaly and proper paperwork should be done. People come to this country because of its greatness. The greatness in America certainly did not root from America just letting people do whatever the hell they want. Think about the boston tea party, the Hiroshima bombing, and the most current, 9/11.

Krisof won't talk to Bill

The New York Times is in trouble. They received millions of dollars from the Darfur government and then ran an 8 page ad on the Darfur government. This government is corrupt and inhumane to their people. Bill claims that the NY Times should not have taken the money, but he admits that they need it. Bill touches on something that I did not know, which is that the NY Times is in financial trouble, their stock is down and they are laying people off everyday. Who would of thought. It makes me laugh to know that the prestigous Times is going down hill. I would be more than happy to see those crazy liberal journalist sink down to the bottom. Bill tells the civil rights activist, Kenneth Roth, on his show that he should be focusing on American civil rights violation, including the whack job in Ohio who let a child rapist go on probation. Way to go Bill. We should be focusing on that, not the problems in Africa, we have our own problems. I like how Bill encouraged Roth to look into it because, "We could use help from your group to bring this judge down." I like that, and I think it was good-natured of Bill to ask this of yet another guest.

Bill on child abuse

Claudia Muro, the lawyer of a convicted child abuser claims her client is not as guilty as she seems. She stupidly claims that the tape speeds up movement making appear that she is shaking the baby and that she was simply playing with the baby. She claims that when the tape is slowed down it is amazing to see how different it looks. Muro claims that the father is a former prosecutor and bringing in that mind set. Also the parents refuse her statements. She says the hospital says that damage would be worse if this actually happened. This is crap! The women has been in jail for 2 and half years in jail. Bill, where were you? Bill just let this woman bullsh*t for 2 minutes and did not take one shot at her. I am dissappointed in Bill for this one. He is always looking after the kids, so what happened? Either this Muro has a good case and Bill knows it or Bill was severely off his game.

Blacks vs. PETA

PETA showed up today at rally comparing the treatment of animals to slavery...ooops! This did not go over well with some Black students. Lauren Lake, a Defense Attorny thinks this insensitive and ranted that this comparison is outrageous. She claims that animals are not people but then makes a point that blacks in slavery were treated like animals, she sounds like a damn hypocrit. Bill says, that he can't argue with that. However, he has never been a big fan of PETA. He draws the dot to gay marriage. Black people hate that gay marriage is being compared to the civil rights struggle of black people. Lake continues to rant, it is quite annoying. He calms her down and claims that banning gay marriage is a civil rights issue. Lake yells some more and mentions Katrina. Bill agrees with her but claims that he may have problems with her views on Katrina and the affect on blacks. Bill plugs that next week him and Lake will discuss the Katrina thing. I cant wait for Bill to rip this woman up on national television!

Not a way to tend to the left

Dr. Larry Chapp claims that Clinton is one of the worst politicians ever. He says she is trying to get the approval from the center. Dr. Chapps feel offended, as a christian that she would bring this up. Bill begs the question ,"Do you think she really thinks it through that much when she mentioned Jesus?' Chapps answers 'no'. Kristin Powers claims that Clinton is very religous based on nonsense, but Bill says that she is selectively using a religous icon that appeals to over 80% of Americans and this is deplorable. I agree with Chapp and Bill alike. I do believe that is purposefully using Jesus to appeal to voters and that this is not a good approach. Once again, Bill makes a good point that Clinton may want to consider.

Talking Points 3/23

Hillary Clinton has gone holy. She is siding with Mahomy by saying the bill against immigration would criminilize the good samaratin and jesus himself. Her solution that she offers, Bill claims is rubbish. Bill says it is all political. He offers a helping hand to her by saying that she needs to shake things up with her base, minorities and liberals. He is right, thanks Bill for a valid point, something we don't hear from Senator Clinton.

He is smart

Today in my office a co-worker shared his opinion with me regarding Bill, unknowing that I am a fan. He was ok until he said that Bill is dumb and then imitated Bill stumbling over complicated words. He know that Bill was dumb and bad with words, but what he didn't know is that Bill graduated from Harvard. My co-worker claims that Harvard is for people who have money, but I am almost sure that they screen for academic integrity.

Steven Colbert takes a shot on O'Reilly

Last night on the Colbert Report, Steven Colbert took a shot at Bill in "The word" segment. He said "Look at Bill O'Reilly" and the words "and turn stone cold" appeared on the screen. He went on to talk about how Bill says he won a Peabody, but really won a Polk. I like Colbert, usually. I am sure that Bill is not offended by a comment made a show that somehow passes as broadcast humor show but I was bothered. I would just like to say that I do not turn stone cold when I see or hear Bill, I am enlightened by his overzealous nature and enjoy his pithey nature. I am just lookin out for Bill.

3/14 Talking points

Ok, here is the deal. This may be the story of the year. A judge in Ohio gives a child rapists, who raped two boys, 5 and 12 years old, repeatedly over 3 years, probation. Then the guy violates his parole and, gets into his car and kills two people. We will leave that second part for the next posting. Now here is where this story gets really good. The judge, Justice Conner has 8, count them, 8 DUI's and three convictions, not to mention, got caught with cocaine in the car. Whoa!!! Are you serious? So here is this judge, who is criminal himself. I thought that i had seen the scum of the earth when the story with Judge Cashman of Vermont broke, but now I am not so sure. This Connor guy makes Cashman look like a saint. Guys like this, should not be allowed on the bench. One DUI alont should be enought to severely punish a judge, two is enough to get him kicked off. Bill is all over this guy, as he should be. Bill is trying to protect the children here, as usual and I agree with Bill that this guy is a complete moron. This story gets deeper, which i will post in the following segment.

Dick Morris on the Factor 3/13

Dick Morris, a popular repeat guest on the Factor, was on Monday to discuss Bush. Morris wrote "Hillary vs Condi" and with all his appearences is probably selling a good bit of books. But he is also selling his political standpoint, especially when it comes to Bush. Now, I just don't this guy. Is he as democrate or a republican? He used to advise the Clinton administration but up until last nite he seemed to support President Bush. Now he has come out critisizing Bush saying that he needs to work everyday "just like Clinton did". He says that Bush should be initiating programs, signing bills and blah blah blah EVERYDAY. Morris seems to think that because Bush will not be running in 2008, that he has lost his flare as the president. May I remind you Mr. Morris that we are in the middle of a war here, I think the president has plenty on his plate. Morris also believes that if Bush does not step it up, he will have a miserable 3 years ahead of him. Yeah, I am sure Bush is just breezing through life right now! Give me a break Morris. I agree that Bush could do more, but I would not call him a slacker either.

Monday's show 3/13

Just as predicted, Bill has not missed a beat with Bennish. What was not predicted was actually having someone, other than Sean Hannity, on his side. Bill's guest last night agrees that this sort of speech is crazy. Although she does not agree that he should be fired, she does think that he should apologize on his own behalf for his bias statements made in the classroom. Well good luck with that one. While Fox news hates this guy, most other networks, like CNN and NBC are eating him up. May I make another important point? This guy is getting so much publicity, both good and bad, that he is actually getting his 15 minutes of fame, and I think that may be exactly what he wants. Boy would I love to see him get on the Factor...but something tells me that he does not have the guts to battle with Bill, especially since NBC's Matt Lauer practically bowed at his feet! And one more thing. Does anyone else find it a bit fishy that he got his long hair cut off shortly before the press coverage began? Is he trying to preserve his image or something? C'mon Bennish, we all know you are a liberal hippie, afterall you do live in Colorado!

3/9 Unresolved Problem Segment on the Factor

One of Bill's greatest virtues is his genuine desire to protect the children. He has the biggest cheerleader of Jessica's Law, named after Jessica from Florida who was raped and killed in Florida. The legislation requires the sex offender register and that citizens have access to where they live. Bill's latest crusade to get the law passed is in the liberal state of Oregon. Steve Doell of the Crime Victims in Oregon agreed with Bill the law must get passed. He pointed out that they need 75,600 signitures but that really 115,000 were needed because of the secretary of state. Bill's answer...he advocates for the people of Oregon to take the fight to their governor. He refers to the idiot of the year, Judge Cashman of Vermont. Bill says that while some states are making progress, like Pennsylvania, others like Oregon are far, far off!! I agree with Bill and i think that his fight to get Jessica's law in ALL 50 STATES is a great cause and is something that we will see again and again the factor.

3/9 Unresolved Problem Segment on the Factor

Roe vs. Wade has become an issue again since the confirmation of Judge Alito. The case presented in today's segment deals with 25-yr-old Dubay who is filing suit in Michigan federal court because he does not want to pay child support for his daughter. This guy is real piece of work. He claims he was lied to and deceived, therefor should not have to support the child because he never wanted the kid to begin with. The mother, Lauren Wells, 20, says he has an obligation. Mel Fight, of the center for men, had the guts to go on the Factor and debate with O'Reilly on the subject. Fight blames Roe for changing it all. Fight says that before Roe no support was required if the man did not intend to conceive the child. He uses a loony arguement that even today, if a woman leaves a baby outside the ER, nobody stops her and asks for any money, so why should men be any different if they did not want the child. Excuse Mr. Fight. If only he knew how ridiculous he sounded. Bill fought back by aruging that regardless of circumstances, a real man has the obligation to help support his child. Bill speaks of the "risk zone" which is unprotected sex. I like Bill's logical arguement...once you enter the "risk zone" you are responsible. I think that is a well put argument. I could not agree with Bill more, is anybody surprised? If men were not responsible for the child they were part of conceiving just because they dont feel like it, where would be?

3/9 Impact Segment on the Factor

The impact segment, a segment that deals with current issues and what political figures and activists and what they are doing about the issues, dealt with the U.S border and illegal immagration and Senator Hillary Clinton. Bill is not a big fan of Clinton, and this is just one more reason he does not. Susan Turnbill, vice chair of the democratic committee takes Clinton's side and says she is searching for solutions to illegal immigration and that she is working with others in Senate in Congress. Turnbill, a loony liberal, of course agrees with Clinton word for word. Bill is all over this one!! Bill believes that more technology or cooperation with the Mexican government will NOT work. Bill also believes that everything Turnbill says is nonsense. His evidence: the problem has been goin on for over 30 years and illegal immigrants are still coming in, half a million a year!!! Bill wants to see the national guard step up to surround the border, a solution that I think would work if used as part of other initiatives. Bill sums up Clinton's bogus plan for immigration by saying the problem is just that, there is no plan. She opposes illegal immigrants but has no clear cut answer to the problem. Bill goes out on a limb and says the Clinton does not have the will to do anything about it...she is just talking. A bold move Bill.

"Unity at Last: No Arabs running U.S Ports" Bills Syndicated Column of the week

Who better to write an editorial on the United Arab Emirates (UAE) running U.S ports than Bill? He points out one element of the debate that is interesting, "for the first time since the Paleolithic period, The New York Post and The New York Times concur: No Arabs in charge of the US ports." He goes on to write that the Wall Street Journal and the Washington Post also agree that the UAE should be allowed to run the ports. Then Bill goes on to lay out the main points of this debate, something that not many other broadcasters are doing. The pros: UAE allows for the US to post military on their soil and run missions in Iraq and Afghanistan. They cooperate with the CIA and captured Al Queda's Al-Nashiri. The cons: They are a conservative Muslim nation that refuses to recognize Israel, an ally of the US and have been known to support the Taliban in the past. Bill sums up this pickle by simply writing, "the USA is caught between a mosque and a hard place." Well put Bill. So Bill has pointed out the problems and weighed both sides in a balanced, no spin kind of way...so what is Bill's answer then? Bill thinks the Bush administration should allow the UAE to run the ports but with "strict oversight and accountability". Bill not only offers a short term solution that satisfies both sides, but also puts out a long term one, who would of thought? Bill believes Congress should pass legislation that bans foreign companies from controlling the operations at U.S ports. This will keep this sort of confilct form arising again. Now it is out of character of me to bash Bush, but I will end with this...if Bush would take on Bill's way of thinking about issues like this one, maybe the administration could actually clean up the mess and start walking instead of talking.

Tues March 7 Show

It is no surprise to me that Bill is going after this Bennish guy, and going after him good! Bill spoke of his beef with this guy with Craig Sullivan, the prosecuter in the case. Sullivan, who admitted to being a democrat himself also admitted that Bennish is NOT a democrat, he is one of those far left guys. Bill's main beef with Bennish, besides his dumb comparison of the Bush Administration to the Hitler Regime, is that it is unbalanced, Bill's petpeave. Even Sullivan agreed that this guy has shown no evidence of ever giving a balanced discussion in this class. Good point Bill. Another aspect that Bill got into quite a bit, at no surprise to his avid viewers, was the protection of Sean Allen, the 16-yr-old student who recorded Bennish and publicized the tape. Now Allen faces ridicule from his peers and is being transfered to another high school. Bill asked Sullivan to look out for Allen. I liked Bill's next move when he made Sullivan promise that if this kid faces anymore trouble to call the Factor and let Bill handle it. You gotta love how Bill is looking out for the kids, it is a commendable crusade. I knew as soon as I heard Sean Hannity break the story of Bennish that Bill and Sean, alike ,would be all over this guy, thank god for true Americans.

Monday's show

Ok. let me go ahead and skip to the end of the show to the segment labled "Most Ridiculous Item of the Day". Bill claims his show is a "no spin zone" but he ripped on the wrong song on Monday. He ranted about how ridiculous it was for the song of the year at the oscars to be "Its hard out here for a pimp". Now I admit, this is ridiculous. We all know how much Bill hates the gangsta rape. However, his opinion is spun. Bill has not seen the movie the song came from, Hustle and Flow. If he had he would know that the song fits in with the context of the movie, which is indeed about a pimp and his struggles to make more of his life. While no other movies really produced original music worth singing along with, this movie deserves to win this award. The movie is based on southern rap. The lyrics go like this..."Its hard out here for a pimp, just tryin to get the money for the rent, with all the cadillac and gas money spend, there is a whole lotta b*tches jumpin ship." Nothing brilliant really, but it goes along well with the movie. No with this being said, I will end it by saying, I am just lookin out for you Bill..watch the movie and dont spin your stories.

Thursday's show

On Thursday's "The O'Reilly Factor" Bill went after this Bennish guy, the teacher in Colorodo who compared the Bush administration to Hitler...whoa, watch out guys, our "no spin" guy is gonna tear this guy apart, that is for sure.
